 About Lake County

Anchored along the rolling shores of beautiful Lake Erie, Lake County is a gathering place for sun seekers, boaters, and water lovers of all ages. Each summer more than 2 million people flock to the county's Mentor Headlands Beach, the longest beach in Ohio.
Just twenty minutes east of Cleveland, Lake County is a crossroads between the city and the country. This is reflected in the county's politics as it serves as a bellwhether for the state of Ohio. Of the 17 gubernatorial and presidential elections in Ohio since 1974, Lake County has voted with the state all but three times.

Lake County is a textbook example of a swing county. As seen in the above graph, Lake County swings more dramatically than the state as a whole. With only 52,000 registered Democrats and Republicans and a whopping 107,488 undeclared and independent voters, Lake County is an important political battleground and will certainly be a county to watch in 2008.
 About Our Party
The Lake County Democratic Party is the local affiliate of the Ohio Democratic Party. We represent Lake County's more than 30,000 registered Democrats. Our mission is to promote the ideals, issues, and candidates of the Democratic Party at all levels of government and specifically those that impact the residents of Lake County at the county, state, and local levels.
Our primary direction comes from our County Central Committee, a broad selection of party members elected at the precinct level. A smaller group, the Executive Committee, is elected by the Central Committee and handles day-to-day matters. We're always looking for ways to embrace new members and improve our organization. We hope that you will consider becoming an Active Member of the Lake County Democratic Party
